7 MORE remote junior dev jobs. Remember your ABC's: Always Be Coding!
Plus, in this month's featured career workshop, Aderson Oliveira from Brridge will help you improve your confidence, your public image, and your network.
This week, I’m re-doing the Mintbean front page using Squarespace. Such a great platform for marketing pages! Maybe it sounds weird coming from a senior full stack dev like me. But a good engineer puts their ego aside and chooses the right tool for the job. 😇
Career workshop of the month
Most junior devs find the job hunt to be extremely frustrating. To help ease that pain, a lot of my very successful engineering friends from the industry have been sharing their experiences at Mintbean.
This month, Aderson Oliveira (LinkedIn, RateMyProfessor), who is a software engineer + cofounder at our sponsor Brridge.com, will be sharing his experience and advice when it comes to building your confidence, digital public image, and professional network. You can sign up for that event here:
Mintbean’s hackathons are back, and now they’re all Hiring Hackathons!
I mentioned this last week, but OUR HACKATHONS ARE (still) BACK! And now we’ll be sending all submitted projects to hiring managers and recruiters across the industry. This is the best way for you to skip the line and get noticed based on your ACTUAL SKILLS, not just on your resume!
Cool thing I found this week
Shadertoy is like Codepen, but for mindblowing animations. All of these are built in simple OpenGL, no 3d assets or models involved! It’s easy to see why building a beautiful shadertoy is a brag-worthy achievement. You can also read people’s OpenGL code right in the browser itself, just like Codepen. Getting started is really easy, just click “New” in the header and you’re on your way 🌈
If you build something cool, share it with everyone in Discord! I’d love to see your creations!
Remote + junior jobs of the week
Every week, I’ll be sending everyone a short list of junior jobs that you can apply to immediately. My advice to new developers is to apply to every single job with anywhere between 0 and 3 years of minimum experience.

Things to learn
Beginner: Learn node-style callbacks. This is a super-common pattern that still gets used in many places across the stack, and is pretty easy to learn.
Intermediate: Already know node-style callbacks? Now learn how to do the same things using Promises.
Advanced: Already know promises? Learn async/await to really take it to the next level! This is where you can REALLY call yourself a pro.
Things I did this week
I got a lot of really great feedback on the new newsletter format! If you haven’t sent me feedback yet, PLEASE send me feedback! Do you like it? Do you ABSOLUTELY HATE it? Reply to this email OR tag me on Twitter at @monarchwadia and let me know! I will be using all of this feedback to make this newsletter even better in the near future! 🙏
Motivational short article of the week
There’s a quiet problem that most developers face: a lack of confidence.
But where does that lack of confidence come from?
Well… neither the quality of your code, nor your limited knowledge, nor your coding habits are the problem.
Here's a slightly more in-depth analysis of where that lack of confidence comes from, and what you can do about it.
That’s all I got this week!
Thanks everyone! I hope y’all have an excellent day, and I hope to see you all soon!
