👋 Yo, junior developers. Look. This giveaway could get you hired.
Plus, 7 remote junior jobs, as usual!
For you Star Trek fans out there, my wife and I are on the last season of Deep Space 9. Whenever I look at the UX/UI of Star Trek spaceship terminals, I’m filled with angst. They seem to work so perfectly. I wonder if we’ll ever have a perfect frontend framework that “just works.” 🤔
MASSIVE Giveaway 🎊 3 free months on a real team project!
“Got no experience, can’t get a job. But got no job, so I can’t get no experience!”
👆👆 To fight that reality, Brridge has very generously sponsored this giveaway at Mintbean! One lucky somebody’s going to get 3 months of FREE membership to Brridge’s Group Program.
Every entry helps support Mintbean and the work we do for you guys, so come show our sponsors some love 🥰
The Hiring Hackathon for Junior Web Devs is going to hit 400 registrations!
We’re probably going to hit 400 registrations by tomorrow! It’s our biggest hackathon till date, I’m so excited!!!
If you haven’t signed up yet, do it! We’ll be sending all submitted projects to hiring managers and recruiters across the industry. This is the best way for you to skip the line and get noticed based on your ACTUAL SKILLS, not just on your resume!
2 JavaScript frameworks I played with this week: Svelte and Nest.js
Svelte is like yogapants for SPA development. The developer experience is beautiful, and I don’t wanna go back to React ever again (but probably will, haha). It’s the absolute bomb-diggity and it almost feels like plain HTML.
Nest.js on the other hand is an industrial-strength framework for JavaScript. This is the kind of stuff you use if you want to build applications that will stand for decades. If anyone here has done Spring Boot or any Java or C#, they’ll feel right at home with Nest.
Remote + junior jobs of the week
Every week, I’ll be sending everyone a short list of junior jobs that you can apply to immediately. My advice to new developers is to apply to every single job with anywhere between 0 and 3 years of minimum experience.

Anybody else here meditate? If you don’t, you should try it!
I meditate from time to time (I personally like Zazen style). Meditation clears your mind and can work wonders for your concentration, which is VERY important in coding. Meditation traditions abound in every religion, from Christianity to Islam to Buddhism, and are even advocated for by atheists like Sam Harris. For good reason — meditation is very beneficial! If you’ve never done it before, try Headspace. They’re a great way to get started
Things I did this week / looking for advice
I have seen the light! This week, I finally started putting together standard business processes for Mintbean. We’ve never been a fully systematic company, and I’m finally learning the value of creating lightweight recipes for everything from marketing to sales to coding to social media engagement.
I’m looking for advice on how to create and evolve scalable business systems in a startup! Please reply if you can teach me the basics on a short call, I’d be very grateful and will trade software developer career advice in return 😄
That’s all I got this week!
Thanks everyone! I hope y’all have an excellent day, and I hope to see you all soon!
